  1. We are launching our new case study and I am beyond eager to see what my kids will do with this content and the connections they will make.
  2. I get to lead coach my first Girls on the Run meeting. I love this program and I’m ecstatic I get to be a part of it - puts me back in touch with my Wellesley and VM days. The topic for tomorrow: positive self-talk.

Girls on the Run is such an amazing program that I’m delighted to be a part of. The program combines running and physical activity with building self-esteem and positive self-image for girls in 3rd-8th grades. The mom of a student in my crew this year is heading up the program at our school, and I was excited for the opportunity to coach. At Wellesley, I was involved with the Vagina Monologues all four years (I was President & director junior and senior years), so empowering women and girls is something near and dear to my heart.

We’re building up to and training for a 5K in Denver in November, and along the way the girls will learn and talk about positive self-image, self-esteem, positive self-talk, and a plethora of other issues. We also do a service project before the end of the season.

I’m not being terribly eloquent about it now, largely because I’m braindead at the moment. I am looking forward to watching these girls grow and demonstrate how self-assured and amazing they are. Because they already are, and I want them to know that they should never change that.

I wish there’d been a program like this when I was a kid.
