I just spent over an hour writing sub plans trying to remember what I wanted to do tomorrow when most of my resources are at school since I left early today due to illness. I also think my sub plans might be too long.

It is so much work to be sick when you’re a teacher.

I know there are many substitute teachers in this community. Having never been a sub, I don’t know what would be helpful in lesson plans. What do/would you love to see in plans? What do you hate?

  2. hkar0610 answered: Bulleted explanations of the daily routine! How class starts, how you get their attention, how bathroom passes work & where everything is!
  3. trevorthered answered: Instructions, attendance, seating charts, and worksheets separated into period/class they will be used, in a neat pile on the desk.
  4. themusicstopped answered: As as substitute teacher I appreciate a step by step lesson. I hate ambiguous plans that leave me scrambling.
  5. missclaxton answered: I used to love to see plans that explained what the teacher wanted me to do with the students that day.
  6. annaslibrary answered: Detailed plans with clear classroom/school rules. Seating charts, too, are helpful.
