Birthday day surprises, yay!
My friend has decided that, as tomorrow is my birthday, she is going to give me a birthday day. She won’t tell me exactly what will happen, but she did say I should be ready to go at 9:30 am tomorrow, when she’ll pick me up.
I’m intrigued and excited! Birthday! The big 2-5.

I used my great-grandma Milly’s recipe and they taste just like hers. I miss her. Making these makes me want to punch stitch and crochet and play Rummy. She was a delightful lady, and I’m really glad I have her recipe to make these. It’s the first year I’ve done it, but it feels like something that might become a tradition.

Delightful pre-Christmas day:
So far: -sleep until 9 (finally, thanks to the miracle elixer of Theraflu) -hang about and cuddle my fluffball of a cat and watch a foot of snow accumulate on my (covered) balcony -make grilled cheese & tomato soup for lunch (which will always remind me of lovely lunches at Wellesley- sigh)

Last day of school in 2011.
I did it. I made it through the first half of my first year of teaching. Only 5 or so more months to go. …So I guess this isn’t really halfway, but CLOSE ENOUGH.
Break is mere hours away. Let the celebrations commence!

Had a good day today with the kids.
Finished making cheesy potatoes for the staff holiday party tomorrow night.
Wrapped Secret Santa and teammate presents.
Wrote holiday cards and packaged small holiday bags of treats for other staff.

On a wild hair, I decided to make soft caramel tonight.
Yeah. Although my kitchen now smells completely amazing. Also, my cat went INSANE when I put the butter and milk into the pot. I guess she could smell the dairy? Crazy cat.
