so this may have been my favorite series for years. i may have even met ann m. martin and gotten her autograph. and i may or may not have convinced myself i had diabetes when i was younger because i was thirsty all the time (which was stacy’s main symptom). i may have also had all the bsc dolls, started my own bsc, and have watched the movie more than 20 times (although the last time i saw...

Redesigning the Boarding Pass - Journal - Boarding... →
this is kind of awesome. i hadn’t really thought about how much boarding passes need to be redesigned, but damn it’s true.
i love the air new zealand boarding pass (apparently they are already awesome).
and i feel like jetblue has been trying to up the standards for design for the airlines… but this would be an improvement on what they’ve already done.

a very short story, for now:
G and I were headed home from his music class on Tuesday. We hopped on the bus and were lucky to find seats. He found one with a dropped metrocard sitting on it, which he promptly picked up. I turned around to find him licking it.
Yes, really. Licking the metrocard.
“G. What are you doing?”
Guilty face.
“No, seriously. Why is your tongue on...

adventures in nannying: the naked staredown
part two of our multi-part series, adventures in nannying:
I spent my Tuesday evening having a standoff in the bathroom with a naked four-year-old.
G had been in the bath for a long time. I swear, the kid is part fish— he would stay in the bathtub for hours at a time if I let him. He had played in the bath for almost 45 minutes. It was nearly bedtime. I walked into the bathroom, all smiles...

adventures in nannying
it has recently occurred to me that perhaps i should be documenting some of the more amusing stories i have from this stint as a nanny on the upper east side. admittedly, the upper east side part is pertinent to only a few of my stories… but i feel as though the attitudes these kids have is inherently related to their environment. consider this the first of a multi-part series.

In the last few days, I’ve been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I’ve been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I’ve been absurdly lucky. That said, I’ve been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my...
